Office move intranet community
A very quick survey provided an enormous number of questions that needed to be considered including entire sections those close to the project had not considered.
With an upcoming move of over 500 staff to a new office over 1 weekend there was a need for a central point of information. Given less than a day and based in an interstate office I was asked to map out an intranet page that would be housed on a fairly structure platform.
Starting with the obvious items I began to create a list of items that should be included. Then using those people available I asked what they would be interested in. It was at this time that the concerns of interstate employees became clear and we made sure we included an area that included information important right across the firm as well as an area that included practical information for those people based in the office that would be moving.
By running a simple post-it note session grouping activity was completed as a spontaneous lunchtime activity we were able to form the structure of a page that became one of the most active intranet communities for that period of time.
While being a very quick task this highlights the importance of doing any sort of research to assist in knowing what to include and how to group it.
